Roots in Racing

Andy McMillin is a third-generation off-road legend whose name is synonymous with desert dominance. Andy is part of a legacy that stretches back to his grandfather Corky McMillin, a Baja icon and Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee who started racing in Baja in 1976.  Throughout the 1980’s, Corky, along with Andy’s uncle Mark and father Scott, turned their humble racing team into a dynasty.  This family heritage instilled in him a relentless work ethic, respect for the land, and determination to push boundaries.

Andy’s passion for desert racing began almost as soon as he could walk. As a toddler he would ride along on Baja pre-runs with his father Scott, soaking in every turn, bump and rock garden. Riding with his father allowed Andy to watch a master at his craft, as Scott is regarded as one of the best to ever drive the Baja races because of his aggressive yet smooth driving style.  By age 10 he was behind the wheel in the sand dunes of Imperial, CA, learning clutch control and harnessing the instincts that would define his driving style.  Driving in and winning his first race in 2001 at age 14, Andy made his mark early and has solidified his status as one of the elite drivers in the sport.

Career Highlights & Records

Andy has built an enviable resume in desert racing, especially in the elite Trophy Truck class.  Some of his most notable achievements include:

- Six Overall wins at the SCORE Baja 1000, including his first at age 19, making him the youngest ever to accomplish that feat

- Two Overall wins at the SCORE Baja 500 (2017, 2019)

- Two Overall wins at the SCORE San Felipe 250 (2005, 2019)

- Recipient of the exclusive SCORE Baja Triple Crown Award, joining a select group of racers who have won all three Baja races (San Felipe 250, Baja 500, Baja 1000)

- Teamed and won races with legends such as Robby Gordon, Rob MacCachren and Bryce Menzies

Shifting Gears: Transition & Next Chapter

In late 2022, Andy made the difficult decision to step away from full-time competition announcing his retirement from the full SCORE championship schedule.  Though he’s not racing full seasons anymore, the door remains open for guest drives, occasional appearances, brand ambassador opportunities and legacy projects.

Beyond the Finish Line

Andy is more than a racer—he’s an ambassador for the sport he loves. He’s spoken openly about the evolution and future of desert racing, the challenges of maintaining top-level competition, and the balance between career and family. Off the track, he remains deeply connected to the racing community and the next generation of desertdrivers.
